NSW Government Trade & Investment, The Hills Shire Council, Sydney Hills Business Chamber, Success Womens Network, She Business Australia, Independent Business Network Inc. & Binarix worked together to deliver the Women In Business Mentoring Program, a 3 month program for business owners.
It provided opportunities for participants to acquire new skills and develop growth plans and strategies, for women in business to network and learn from each other, and for each to have a business mentor to help face the many challenges that today's highly competitive and rapidly changing global marketplace presents.
The objective was to improve business development, networking and growth opportunities for small businesses, incorporating mentoring from experts to business owners. Specific outcomes included business management skills, identifying and facilitating business growth strategies, opportunities to network and develop strategic alliances, prospecting and sales presentation skills so business owners could recognise and capitalise on opportunities to increase turnover and profit performance.
The program was not targeted at a specific industry segment. Any business engaged in promoting their product / service to the general marketplace, would benefit from the program.
Small business owners (female) who have been working in their business for one year.
You Only Pay $500 (+GST)
NSW Government Trade & Investment subsidised the program so the Participant only paid $500 plus GST.
10 Hours of One-On-One Mentoring
The mentoring component comprised of 10 hours one-on-one mentoring with a successful business person that had at least five (5) years experience in running a successful business. Mentoring took place throughout the 3 month program period. Timeframes of meetings between Participants and Mentors were jointly agreed.
15 Hours of Small Group Business Skills Interactive Workshops
All sessions were conducted in boardroom format with a maximum of 25 participants.
The program was be presented on MS Power-point and an experienced facilitator conducted each session along with special guest speakers sharing their knowledge and experience. The program was designed to be interactive and involved participants being engaged in discussions and role-playing exercises.
Each participant was supplied with a workbook. The workbook allowed for note taking and became a permanent reference manual.

|Workshop 1: Business Planning - "How to develop your business plan"... Key topics include, performing a TOWS analysis and developing your business USP (Unique Selling Proposition) to create a framework for developing an effective business plan. Live case study: A successful business entrepreneur will share their successful business planning secrets.|
|Workshop 2: Finance Fundamentals - "How to create a profitable & sustainable business'... Key topics include, understanding your cash flow cycle and profitability processes to ensure sustainable business growth. Live case study: A successful business entrepreneur will share their strategies for business profitability by showing you how increasing prices of their products and services is more effective than discounting in creating a sustainable business.|
|Networking Evening - A networking evening where both Mentorees and Mentors are invited.|
|Workshop 3: Marketing - "How to develop your marketing plan"... Key topics include, matching your products or services to profitable target markets and identifying cost effective promotional strategies. Live case study: A successful business entrepreneur will share their successful marketing secrets.|
|Workshop 4: Sales - "The sales is made in the first 5 minutes"... The key to sales success is to understand “how” and “why” people buy, how to successfully prospect using the telephone, and how to facilitate a successful face-to-face meeting. Live case study: A successful business entrepreneur will share their successful selling techniques.|
|Workshop 5: Web & Social Media - "How to develop your web & social media strategies for business success"... Two experts--web strategist and social media strategist--will present a lively and interactive workshop on how your business can benefit from the web and the social media revolution.|
|Graduation & Mini Expo - A fantastic opportunity for mentorees to showcase their business and also to thank their mentors for their wonderful support.|
